WINE STUDIOLO – free-standing cabinet for storing wines, wine glasses and related accessories.

 

TITLE: FOR ALL THOSE WHO ARE LOST

The humanists of the Renaissance found shelter in small, lavishly decorated rooms with skillfully inlaid panellings, so they could study in peace. They did not just read and write in quitness of studiolo, but also saved there some great simbols of science such as books and scientific instruments. Hence it is no coincidence that Vulgaris has complemented its art furniture collection with a wine studiolo.

Delicate, almost skin color of the cherry cabinet is supplemented by the tall legs in velvety red, and the wood panel is embossed with red. On it there is a hand-carved image of a couple, depicted in the Renaissance spirit. Man and woman playfully, almost vulgarly show tongues to each other after experiencing in vino veritas. The motif illustrates the authentic, slightly raw human nature that we so fondly hide behind friendly faces today. The turning point happens when we open the door: that is when the couple separate and their gesture becomes intended for the people in the room. Many breasts that have been accompanying Artemis (the goddess of fertility, nature, growth and hunting) since the Greek times, remind us of our origin. They invigorate the surface and deepen the sensation. In a subtle way the taste of wine is emphasized.
